Spin asymmetries in electron-jet production at the future electron ion collider

چکیده

A bstract We study all the possible spin asymmetries that can arise in back-to-back electron-jet production, ep → e + jet X , as well associated fragmentation process, +jet( h )+ electron-proton collisions. derive factorization formalism for these and perform corresponding phenomenology kinematics relevant to future electron ion collider. In case of unpolarized scattering, we also give predictions azimuthal HERA experiment. This demonstrates production is an outstanding process probing polarized transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions functions.

e+A physics at a future Electron-Ion Collider

s = 63 158 (40 110) GeV/A for e+p (e+A) collisions. Whilst gluon distributions have been studied extensively in nucleons at HERA, there is very little information on them for x < 0.1 in nuclei. The rapid increase in the gluon momentum distribution at low-x in nucleons found at HERA, if not tamed, leads to the violation of the Froissart Unitarity Bound at small-x. This can be achieved in non-lin...

The Electron-Ion Collider

The future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) is a proposed new facility to collide high-energy electrons with beams of polarized protons/light nuclei and unpolarized nuclei. We overview the goals of the project and key measurements at the EIC. We also briefly comment on recent developments of the project.

An Electron-Ion Collider at Jefferson lab

As explained in the oral presentation [1], the original plans for an electron-ion collider (ELIC) at Jefferson Lab involved the construction of two figure-of-eight rings, intersecting at up to four collision points, with a proton energy of 30-225 GeV (30-100 GeV/A for ions up to Pb) and electrons (and positrons) from 3 to 9 GeV [2]. Since the construction of such a facility must await completio...

Overview on the Future Electron-Ion Collider Projects

One of the large new projects envisioned for the future US nuclear physics program is the construction of a high-energy electron ion collider. The motivation for such a machine would be primary directed at the study of the nucleon spin structure using polarized light ions and the study of low x gluon distributions in heavy nuclei. Two candidates coming from the two large DOE nuclear physics fac...

Spin asymmetries in jet-hyperon production at LHC

We consider polarized Λ hyperon production in proton–proton scattering, pp → (Λ↑jet) jetX, in the kinematical region of the LHC experiments, in particular the ALICE experiment. We present a new Λ polarization observable that arises from the Sivers effect in the fragmentation process. It can be large even at midrapidity and therefore, is of interest for high energy hadron collider experiments. A...
